Various And Sundry

Just some things that caught my eye:

I love my Camry and am against the bailout. However, I do think the Big 3 get a little bit of unfair press for falling behind the Japenese back in the '70's and '80's. One complaint from my car list buddies is that everytime GM has a recall, it's big news, but Toyota recalls are relegated to the back page. Also, while looking for a cheap used cars for my Dad last year, I frequently ran across ads like this one: "Fully loaded 1997 Buick Century. Runs great, but has 267,000 miles on it...$1100." Chrysler consistently makes very nice-looking cars, although I do question their quality. Never been a Ford fan, but I am curious about them since they now have a Boeing guy and KU grad at the helm!

I think the Big 3 make decent cars, kinda like Studebaker, Packard, and AMC traditionally did. I don't see why it's such a big deal if these guys have to merge or go bankrupt. Lots of car companies have done that.

Also, Big 3 still makes the best big trucks, and big luxury cars like Lincoln Continental. I'd buy one if I was richer.

Sincerely,
The Governor
