I see why you're hopes are up; Daaaamn, Kirk! That sounds like their last good album, the black self-titled one that came out when I was in high school.

This music stuff makes me feel old sometimes, though. Earlier today a DJ on the radio actually reminisced about a Green Day song from their first album that he taped off the radio when he was TWELVE. So not only am I older than radio DJs now, but the stuff from the early 90s when I really got into cool music that still seems fresh and recent to me, is in reality over a decade old.

Here's also hoping Metallica has another good album though.
