Politickery
Just a few thoughtlets about current events...
- Did you hear about al-Qaida's latest "freedom fighting" technique? They strapped bombs to two mentally retarded women and then sent them into a crowd, triggered the bombs remotely and killed seventy-odd people. Nice, huh?
These are the people our brave men and women in the military are fighting. This is the reason we can't withdraw from Iraq yet. Seems pretty simple to me ... but try explaining it to a liberal.

Looks like it's gonna be McCain for the GOP and either Hillary or Obama for the Democrats. Hillary is getting a second wind, and I think that's good. It would be easier to beat Hillary on her record than it would if the Democratic candidate were Obama.
I won't be an overly enthusiastic McCain supporter. I was a big McCain fan eight years ago, but he's moved to the left since then. Nonetheless, he's solid in the areas I care about (public funding of abortion, terrorism, health insurance reform, crime, free trade) and I'll be happy to vote for him.
Besides, lets face it: America has moved to the left in the past eight years. Dubya has done a shoddy job of making conservative principles work. Mostly because he's governed so haphazardly. The liberal element of McCain's history in the senate appeals to those who're disillusioned with the conservative movement. The GOP can't win without votes from Democrats, and I agree with those who believe that McCain can deliver those votes.
Oh, I still have to think that Romney would be the better PotUS ... but he has the personality of a gourd and that is more important than it should be.
For that matter, I agreed with Fred Thompson on more issues than any other candidate in this cycle. Unfortunately, it looks like I wanted Thompson to be president more than he wanted to be himself.- Ann Coulter dislikes John McCain so much that she says that she'll campaign for Hillary if McCain gets the GOP nomination:
In a related story, I dislike Ann Coulter so much that I become "the candidate of changing channels" whenever this venomous 70 pound skank pops up on Fox News. - So who's out of the race now? Let's see, Rudy, Fred, Kucinich, Richardson, Edwards ... Boy, there's the important one, in my opinion. John Edwards. That guy has absolutely NO business running for anything. I'd actually rather see Hillary be the next PotUS than John Edwards.
It always worried me that there were people who took Edwards seriously. Thankfully, his small group of supporters kept dwendling ... and finally dwindled away to nothing as all the liberals picked sides in the big show. I'm really glad he is gone and that there's basically no one left who takes him seriously enough to consider him for the VP slot. Edwards was and is an absolute lunatic. Good riddance.
Regardless of everything else, I remain optimistic that '08 will be the year that we finally get rid of the Clintons. I'd even be happy about a Barack Obama presidency as long as the main result is the political death of that sleazy family. And, hey, what's the worst that Obama can do? Govern badly? Hell, if we can get through eight years of Bill Clinton, we can weather anything.
Besides, I can't help but like Obama. I don't agree with him about much, but I like the guy. Every time I see him give one of his speeches ("I'm Barack Obama and I'd just like to say change, change, hope, future, hope, change, moving forward, and hope.") it makes me want to pinch his little cheeks and buy him an ice-cream cone. He's a sweet kid. He doesn't know s**t about how the world actually works, but he's really likable.
And I gotta admit, I like the idea of a black president. I like the idea of being able to look at all the white liberals I know ... the ones who've shaped their world view around the concept of white guilt ... and asking them "NOW what you got to say, mu%#$%%*$rs?"
