'Bout Time

I'd gotten tired of waiting for this:

After months of not-so-coy will-he-or-won't-he political flirtation, Fred Thompson has finally and officially announced that he is a candidate for the 2008 Republican presidential nomination.

"I am running for president of the United States," he said during a taping of NBC's "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" Wednesday evening, drawing applause and cheers from the audience.

I think Fred's campaign would have been better served by announcing earlier and participating in the GOP debate ... but either way I'm glad he stopped the feet-dragging, which had become tiresome. I still think Thompson is the guy I'm most comfortable supporting and I look forward to the next few months of politickin'.

Yay! :D

I gotta hand it to him, the man knows good pr...he definitely had a wider audience on Leno than where he really should have been. Oh well, at least he finally got off the pot...

This is not an expression of my sarcastic leanings, but a true question, what does Fred Thompson have to offer America.?

I'm glad he announced. I think it was a well planned strategy to wait this long, given the fairly weak field of candidates who have been making noise for the past year or so. Waiting until now has allowed people to project their hopes onto him, much like Obama is doing with the Democrats.

As to what Mr. Thompson has to offer... he will hold back the tide of the culture of surrender, the culture of death, and the ever-growing tsunami of socialism. He has conservatism to offer America, of which we are in dire need. There is too much "gimmy gimmy gimmy" going on. Too many people are indignantly demanding the fruits of the sweat of my brow as their God given right. That has to end. Plus, what Thompson also has to offer is the greatest chance at defeating a Clinton / Obama ticket. The gruesome twosome must be stopped.

Given how low Duncan Hunter still is in the polls, I will most likely switch my support to Fred Thompson.
