Name That Tune
There may be three or four people who'll be interested in this ... and for those three or four people, here ya go.
Here are the specs on the following video:
- Three and a half minutes
- 34 song clips
- One (and one only) appearance on the charts for each of these acts.
How many of these one hit wonders can you name from these clips?
If you're interested the complete list of songs sampled is here.
The first person to guess all the clips correctly without looking at the cheat list will receive a valuable prize package, including:
- Autographed photos of "anonymous" bloggers MCF, Otis and The Unseen One...
- Rhodester's claim ticket (also autographed) from Seabiscuit...
- A day with Lorna, in a dark place listening to new age music...
And any number of other things I'm not authorized to give away.

I recognized many, but not all, including the greatest one-hit-wonder of all time, the Macarena.
But I was disappointed not to hear any of the second-greatest one-hit-wonder of all time: Starland Vocal Band's "Afternoon Delight".
Whatever happened to that one? It gets left off all the lists!

I'm very surprised that some of these are considered "one hit wonders", but I see how by definition, having only one song on the charts has nothing to do with the otherwise popularity of bands like Faith No More.
I tried giving a (not autographed) picture out in pieces once, but people lost interest in the method needed to attain those fragments. I also offered a picture with no strings in exchange for getting the most Blog Awards votes. I think I got 11 votes. I don't think my photo is that much of an incentive to folks. :)

Hey, wait a second.. am I supposed to autograph the thing, or is Seabiscuit? Because he's, like.. dead.
This was fun. I'm certain that Loggins & Messina, The Knack, a-ha, and Spandau Ballet had more than one hit - conservatively looking at the US Billboard Top 40 hits. I suspect that Big Country and Sinead O'Connor also had other top 40 hits. I'm thinking of Fields of Fire and Mandika respectively. If we look at at the "charts" including Dance, Hot 100, UK, et cetera then I think that many of them would not be considered one hit wonders.
Thanks for putting that together.
