Our Trip To DC

We took the kids to DC yesterday and did the tourist thing. We saw some of the monuments, parts of the Smithsonian, etc. There's just no time to do it all in one day, but we live four hours away, so another trip before too long is likely.

The Smithsonian's American History Museum is closed for renovations until 2008, unfortunately ... but some of that museum's most popular exhibits have been moved to a small wing of the Air And Space Museum so that tourists like us won't have to miss them. That made it convenient to see a bunch of neat stuff, all in one location!

The pics below are all clickable ... and they're fairly cruddy, too; all the evidence we need that we ought to save up and try to replace our old 3 megapixel digital camera eventually. Nonetheless, here they are, such as they are. YouTube video might be soon to follow.

Just a heads up... larger MP will allow you to A) print larger... or B) crop smaller sections of a picture to blow up.

A 3MP camera is ok, just make dure it has a good lens, good optical zoom, and good sensors.

I like the picture of Rob Reiner next to Archie Bunker's chair. ;) And Wendy doesn't look at all like she's smuggling explosives in that bag as part of some terrorist plot. Nope, not nervous at all; totally cool. ;)

I should post my DC pics one of these days; I did a road trip with my friends back in my early 20s(also the day we met Rey's then secret girlfriend, now wife and mother of his 2.5 kids). I got some great shots, albeit in 35 MM, so there's some scanning in my future.

My favorite moments at the Air & Space museum was when I touched the moon rock, pretended to lick my finger, and said "I'll be damned! It DOES taste like cheese!" and when standing in front of the Apollo capsule saying "Oh, so THIS is the set they used to fake the moon landing!" Heh heh!

Darrell and Wendy, thanks for the great vicarious trip.

man, i love DC.

i've visited a few times and have a collection of really great memories from there...
