Blogger Beta?

Blogger is hounding me to switch to Blogger Beta and making all kinds of nifty promises about how swell it is.

We'll see.

I do like the nifty new "labels" function.

They say that hangs and lock-ups are "a think of the past" and that they have this neat bridge in Brooklyn that they want to sell me.

Anyway, for a week or two I'm going to skip posting at SouthCon and post at this test blog and see if Blogger Beta is worth a crud.

You guys stop by and see what you think, and please leave me a comment or two so I can see if things are working like they're supposed to.

Consider me temporarily relocated.

Comments:
If I could have gotten my comment to go through on the other site, you might have seen this:

Thanks for doing this, D. I too have been getting the same prompts, and I too have been hesitant to make the switch, especially since there's no going back, and I've heard some horror stories from the first round of the beta. If it works for you, then I'll hit that pesky switch button too. :)

PS--OK, problem #1--it would not recognize my regular blogger login. Is there a setting that allows that, or can you no longer get comments from people on the old blogger?

Addendum: I was going to post as anonymous or other, but it neither previewed nor posted, just reloaded the page, even after accepting the word verification. It recognized that and stopped asking, but wouldnt let the comment through.

bloggers been kind of sticky on me when it comes to posting comments...

some times my user name shows up as all sorts of different things now...so let's see what happens here vs. there.

I find the Beta one annoying when I go to other people's sites if only because I lose my blogger log-in everytime I want to post a comment and even have to relog into my own site. I really don't want to change and wish they would just leave me alone already!

I cut the blogger cord a while back and haven't missed it one teensy-eensy bit. Tried leaving a comment over there but couldn't.

It denied my comment at first telling me it couldn't log me in.
I went ahead & fed my info to Google & then was able to comment.

One thing I don't like is the extra click required for secure non-secure screen. That's just annoying.

So glad you did this trial run, Darrell. I have decided against making the switch after I noticed that I couldn't post to a couple of blogs that had gone with the new format. So, yeah, I have the same issue as well.

I guess I'm not the only one with this problem. Thing is, I did have some beta users on my blogroll already and I had been able to comment on their sites. I can't comment on your test site though, and Kev Bayer switched and I've been unable to comment on his site as well. And as for the fix they say "may" work, it doesn't for me. It says use your google or blogger login, but will not accept my blogger login. And when I post as anonymous, it stops asking me for word verification but simply doesn't post. All it does is reload the page. They're kind of forcing me to switch, but I'm going to wait until they resolve this.

Forcing you to switch?! Why?
