Lady In The Water and A BeliefNet Quiz
- I Want My Money Back
I saw The Lady In The Water last night. You can read my review at film geeks. In fact, if you are considering seeing this film, I encourage you to read my review and save yourself the ticket price. Lady in the Water stinks on ice. - Me So Catholic
I took the What Kind Of Catholic Are You? quiz at BeliefNet (hat tip to Shaking Off Sleep). I'm always a bit dubious about these quizzes… but, like most people, when the results are to my liking, I proclaim them to be accurate and trustworthy.
This quiz grades your Catholicism on a 1 to 100 scale. A one is the lowest possible score (i.e., a Kennedy Catholic). I suppose that a score of 100 means that you are a very traditional Catholic. Anyway, I scored a 92 on the quiz, and according to BeliefNet, that makes me a very traditional Catholic. Here's how BeliefNet summed me up:You Are a Daily Rosary (Very Traditional) Catholic
You'd like the church to revive the time-honored devotions, liturgical practices, and strong institutional discipline that prevailed before the Second Vatican Council—and you're hoping that Pope Benedict XVI will lead the church in exactly that direction. Your favorite hymn is probably a traditional Latin composition such as the "Panis Angelicus," and your favorite pope is probably a pioneer of the Church's great liturgical tradition such as Gregory the Great. You loved "The Passion of the Christ."
My reaction to that? Yeah, I loved The Passion of The Christ, I feel compelled to watch it at least once a year, and I cry all the way through it.
Favorite Pope? I guess I'd say Peter. He's also my chosen Patron Saint. Much love to Gregory the Great, but Peter is my real favorite.
Yes, I do hope that Benedict XVI leads the church in a more traditional, conservative direction. The Church is eternal, it stands outside of time, and it should not be souped up, tricked out, or "modernized" (God forbid) to please the baby boomers. Sorry, boomers, no offense, but your "modern" notions about "progressive ideas" are actually ideas that are thousands of years old. The original word for most of these kinds of "progressive ideas" was heresy. You don't hear that word much these days, but it's still the correct word.
Church music? Yep, I'm traditional on that, too. I think that music at mass (and at Protestant churches, too) has suffered because of the influence of the baby boomers. Sacred music should sound sacred. I just don't think that the Mass is the place for Crosby, Stills and Nash sounding stuff.
But, hey, what do I know? If you read this blog on a regular basis, you know how full of garbage I am, anyway. ;)
