A Desperate Plea For Help
Alright, I need input about the template.
There are two reasons I've changed the template. One is because the old template took FOOOOREVERRRR to load. Another is that the right-side column didn't look right in Internet Explorer. That column was either overlapped by the middle column, or else didn't show up at all.
It always bugged me to no end that the blog took so long to load. I finally decided that I couldn't live with it anymore.
The main complaints I'm hearing about the new template are that the fonts are too large and that the header isn't centered.
If you don't mind, please leave me a comment with quick answers to the following questions:
- Is the new template OK with you, or is it hard to read?
- Do the fonts, colors, etc, look OK?
- Is the header centered? It looks OK on Firefox on our PC, but it might look awful elsewhere.
- If you don't like the new template, what are you main complaints?
Again, the main thing as far as I'm concerned is that the blog now loads quickly, which makes it all worthwhile to me. But, if the majority of the people who are kind enough to look at this blog from time to time just flat-out hate the new template, I'll go back to the old one.
Thanks in advance for your input.

Hi. It loads quickly for me. I use Firefox and hi-speed. The banner is not quite centered though. A bit to the right. The fonts look good. Otherwise it's all pretty sharp.
Firefox- just a bit to the right, which is appropriate for you, so leave it that way.
Explorer- HARD LEFT! OH NO!!!!
loads quickly!
great taste!
less filling!!

It looks pretty good. I miss the colors. It was shocking when I visited you page and it was changed, but I'm good now. Loads a lot faster!!!
LOL to Rhodester's comment! It's to the right on my Firefox too and I like it as it seems fitting. I'm at 1024x768 resolution, if that helps.
Darrell, it loads up quickly, but I never had a prob with your other one either. Who cares about looks anyway, content is king!
It looks great. The header is a bit to the right in Firefox, but other than that it looks good. I didn't have a problem with the old template but, as others have said, I am on a broadband connection. The header is to the left in IE and Opera but otherwise looks good.
Thanks to everyone for the input. I think I have something now that I can live with. The banner along the top... ah, geez. It's one of those things. It looks perfect in Firefox (at least, it does on THIS PC), and it looks like crap in IE. I tried to basically come up with a compromise by extending the negative space on either side of the banner in the GIF itself. Which means that now it's slightly off center in BOTH browsers, but at least it's not all the way to the left in IE anymore.
Anyway, thanks again for the input, guys. I'll leave it as is until I feel the need to meddle with it again at some point in the future.

The new look is clean & easy to read.
No complaints here.
It took WAY too long to load before, so I am glad you changed it. I thought it was just my MAC that was the problem.

I can't speak to how slow it was before you made the change but I can attest to the fact that it is still slow in IE (call me impatient perhaps). If it's anything like the problem I faced a while back, it has to do with the Amazon.com code. You might experiment with cutting it out for a time.

I must say, I'm not in love with the new template. Here, at my house, it's SO wide that I have to turn my sidebar off, and then it still does not fit. And I have a wicked-huge flat screen monitor.
Fits a bit better at work, where I use Firefox.
