  Spidey 3 Set Pics

I found a few pics from the Spider-Man 3 set on the internet today. As a side-note, I'm amazed at the number of people who just don’t know that Spider-Man is properly spelled with a hyphen! If you're looking for Spider-Man stuff on the net, you have to search with the proper search terms and with the truncated term spiderman.

Knowing the proper spelling of Spider-Man, being snarky about it, and actually admitting it at this blog makes me feel quite a bit like the comic book guy on The Simpsons. In case you don't watch The Simpsons, you should know that what that means is that I feel like a dork. The fact that I pretty much look exactly like the comic book guy (sans ponytail) only complicates matters. Worst self esteem ever.

Anyway, Spider-Man 3 set pics:

Spidey and Topher Grace as Eddie Brock. I have to admit, Grace looks better in the role than I'd originally thought he would.

Topher looking menacing. Kinda. He also kinda looks like Justin Timberlake in this picture, and Justin Timberlake is just not menacing.

Spidey and Bryce Dallas Howard as Gwen Stacey. Bryce looks exactly right here, and I think this is the prettiest she's ever looked as well.

Rescuing Gwen. So now Pete's dirty little secret is out. The web isn't really strong enough to support his weight and Gwen's, too. He has to use cables and a crane.

One of the promo posters; you'll be seeing this in the halls at your local multiplex any day now. I like the way this one looks.

Sam Raimi has gone to great expense for special effects this time around. Here we see one of the robotic Spider-Man stand-ins that will be used for a special effects shot.

This poster showed up at the recent Comic-Con. Seeing it on line today made me shiver with delight. We're really in a golden age of comic movies these days. More of them have been good than not, too. My hopes are high for Iron Man. The character is complex and a lot of fun, and if the movie is done well, it ought to be quite enjoyable.

Comments:
He does look more like Brock than expected, and less like Ben Reilly. That will teach comic geeks not to judge an actor based on how he or she has looked in previous works. Not.

I think there was a whole conversation on Friends dedicated to the hyphen in Spider-man. Phoebe wondered if he was Jewish, like his surname was Spiderman, then someone else thought he was really Parker Stephenson until Chandler corrected the mistake. Good times.

I've seen the promo poster a few weeks ago and almost was late for Clerks II because I had to keep walking back and forth to see it change. One of my past posts, probably P-links, had a link to a quicktime movie of the effect.

I'll also keep an eye out for a much better nonblurry version of this spoilery vid

topher grace does sort of look like Justin Timberlake in the picture.

As much as I'm longing to see Spider hyphen Man 3, I would give it up to see you shiver with delight. Really. ;)
