  An American Haunting

I always get my hopes up too high for horror movies, and that's probably what I'm doing now... nonetheless, I can't help but hope that An American Haunting is pretty good.

There are reasons to be hopeful, and reasons to be doubtful. On one hand, the cast includes Sissy Spacek and Donald Sutherland. On the other, this is only the second movie that Courtney Solomon has ever directed... and his first film was Dungeons and Dragons. The movie is based on a fascinating true story, and the trailer looks good... but, heck, the trailer for Strange Days looked good, too. An American Haunting comes out on New Years Day, and holiday releases are often some of the best. However, New Years Day is technically the first of the year, making this an early-in-the-year release, and early releases almost always suck.

We'll keep our fingers crossed for An American Haunting... but we ain't holding our breath.
