  film geeks Grand Re-Opening

I now pronounce the film geeks rebuild complete.

I decided that since a rebuild was necessary, a serious rebuild would be done. Why just plug the old links and posts into the same old template when I could, in fact, try to put together something wholly ours? It was worth a shot. I hope the new look of the blog is pleasing and enjoyable to the few, the dedicated, those of you who have actually been kind enough to read our blog and share friendly comments.

Now that film geeks 2.0 is officially up and running, I’d like to make the following promises to our readers. In the future, film geeks will feature:

  • Interviews with up and coming young movie makers.

  • Behind the scenes features written while we visit the sets of major motion pictures.

  • Profiles of your favorite actors and directors as we spend sometimes up to six days at a time with them, detailing their every move.

  • Early glimpses at the upcoming scripts and projects of the biggest producers and directors in Hollywood.

  • As I said, I’d like to promise our readers those things, but that would be ridiculous. HA HA! We are, after all, just a couple of local yokel bloggers in Virginia. But we’ll continue posting film reviews, commentary, and links that we find interesting as long as you continue reading them.

So thanks, and don’t forget to e-mail us with your comments.

Film Geeks 2.0 looks awesome... good job rebuilding the blog-that-was!

I was actually with you up until you were spending six days with actors and directors. It's definitely possible to profile actors and directors. Some films are on location and if you find out where something is filming and when, you could concievably visit the set. As for up and coming movie makers, why not? The younger guys probably have Web sites--Zach Braff had a blog about his movie making experience. You folks establish this site for credibility, and you can easily conduct an interview via e-mail with someone starting out who wants publicity.

I love the montage on the left and your overall new design. A few minor comments, if you don't mind. I think the pictures could be ghosted back slightly more so they aren't fighting with the type over them. Too light and you can't make out what they are, I realize, but I think a little lighter will help with the readability of the words. My second comment is about the popcorn, and might be something you have no control over. In Internet Explorer, it's always at the bottom of and open window and often under your posts, making them hard to read. But I took a look in Firefox, and the popcorn doesnt show up until I scroll all the way to the bottom of the blog, so there it's fine. I'm also on an IMAC in OSX, so I don't know how the site looks on PCs.

Film Geeks 2.0 is off to an awesome start. I love the new copy at the top too about the "bionic blog". Awesome.
